I have been a professional forester for 38 years. While attending college, I worked with the U.S. Forest Service on the Monongahela National Forest. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resource Management from West Virginia University in 1970, I began my forestry career with the Department of the Army where I was primarily responsible for conducting a forest inventory of Fort Bragg, NC and subsequently writing a long- term forest management plan.
From 1987 until I retired in 2003, I was a Supervisory Realty Specialist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where I was primarily responsible for the supervision of the District Real Estate Program that involved the acquisition, management, disposal and leasing of Army property. Since 2003, I have worked as a Consulting Forester engaged primarily in timber sales, timber appraisals, timber trespass appraisals and forest inventories. I have developed the ability to electronically record data and display the appropriate information in GIS format. My experience has allowed me to gain a unique background within the real estate community as well as to expand my knowledge and abilities within the forestry community.
